Reverend Thomas Farrell Hussey, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. His death has left his family, church community, friends and many others mourning the loss of a devoted pastor and longtime servant of his faith. Born on July 8, 1944, to Winfred and Beulah Hussey, Thomas dedicated much of his life to serving others. He spent 38 years in ministry and worked for 50 years as a hairstylist. He was also a black belt in martial arts. Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, pastor and friend. He was known for his kindness, generosity and unwavering faith. Sharing Scripture and speaking openly about his love for the Lord were central to his life. His final ministry assignment was a return to his home church, Smyrna, where he faithfully served for three years during a period of transition. Members of the church will remember his commitment to service and his desire to help others come to know Jesus. Outside of ministry, Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and pursuing his lifelong love of Corvettes. Family and Legacy Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Hussey and Bobby Hussey, and his baby sister, Joan Hussey. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth McNeill Hussey, daughters Lisa Norman and Leslie Lamendola, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild, sisters Mildred Brewer and Louise Clark, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Smyrna Church, with Pastor Edwin Moore and Dr. John Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends afterward in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to the Smyrna Youth Fellowship or Smyrna Church Cemetery Fund. Reverend Thomas Farrell Hussey leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and service. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
