Oliver Conroy Death Brisbane, AU Obituary – Man Dies After Alleged Dating App Attack

BRISBANE, Australia — Oliver Conroy, 27, has died following an alleged attack in Kelvin Grove after police say he was lured to the area through a fake dating-app profile.

According to the information provided from 7NEWS, Conroy travelled to Kelvin Grove on the night of July 24 believing he was going to meet a woman. Police allege he was instead ambushed by a group of teenagers in an incident that also involved the theft of his vehicle.

Conroy was found seriously injured in the middle of a street by neighbours and taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He died from his injuries on August 6, almost two weeks after the alleged attack.

Seven Teenagers Charged

Police allege that seven teenagers were involved in the incident. The group consists of five boys aged between 15 and 17 and two girls aged 14 and 15.

The teenagers were initially charged with offences relating to the alleged assault and theft of Conroy’s vehicle. Following his death, the charges were upgraded to murder.

All seven accused remained in custody following a Brisbane Magistrates Court hearing. The matters were adjourned until September 1, with further court proceedings expected.

Because the allegations remain before the courts, the accused are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty.

Police Continue Investigation

Queensland Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Conroy’s death and have appealed for witnesses, CCTV footage and dashcam recordings from several areas of Brisbane on the night of July 24.
