SARATOGA, Wis. — The Wisconsin Rapids community is mourning the death of Jacob S. Stoflet, 16, who died following a two-vehicle crash in Saratoga on Aug. 12, 2026. The crash was reported at approximately 10:13 p.m. at the intersection of 80th Street and Townline Road, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said Stoflet was driving east on Townline Road when his car failed to stop at a stop sign at 80th Street. His vehicle collided with a pickup truck traveling south on 80th Street that was pulling a horse trailer. Stoflet was alone in his vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead on Aug. 13. The pickup truck driver, a 17-year-old from Pittsville, and two passengers — an 18-year-old woman from Marshfield and a 15-year-old girl from Pittsville — were taken to Marshfield Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available. Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scene, including sheriff’s deputies, police, firefighters, first responders, ambulance crews and medical flight personnel. The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision. Stoflet’s death has left family, friends and members of the Wisconsin Rapids area grieving the loss of a 16-year-old whose life was cut tragically short. As the investigation continues, condolences are being extended to his family and to everyone affected by the Saratoga crash.
