PRAIRIEVILLE, La. — The Prairieville community is mourning the deaths of Alyssia Stewart, 35, and Dusharne Stewart, 37, who were killed in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish on Aug. 12, 2026. Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating the collision shortly after 6 p.m. on I-10 east near milepost 169. According to the preliminary investigation, a 2022 Ford F-250 was traveling east in the left lane behind a 2017 Nissan Altima driven by Alyssia Stewart. For reasons that remain under investigation, the Ford struck the rear of the Nissan. The impact pushed the Nissan into a 2026 Kia Carnival, which then struck a 2023 GMC Yukon. Alyssia Stewart, who was driving the Nissan, and Dusharne Stewart, who was a passenger, were both properly restrained. They were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The driver of the Kia was also properly restrained and suffered moderate injuries. The drivers of the Ford and GMC were properly restrained and reported no injuries. Authorities have not determined whether impairment was involved. Routine toxicology samples will be collected and submitted for analysis as the investigation continues. Charges remain pending the outcome of the investigation. The deaths of Alyssia and Dusharne Stewart have brought profound sadness to their Prairieville community and those who knew them. Their loss serves as another painful reminder of how quickly a highway collision can change the lives of families. Louisiana State Police urged motorists to remain attentive, maintain a safe following distance and adjust their speed to traffic conditions. The investigation remains ongoing, with additional information expected as authorities continue working to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
