NEW MILFORD, Conn. — The Canterbury School community is mourning the reported death of Andrey Uryadov, a respected hockey coach, former NCAA Division I player and admissions professional who died following a reported motorcycle accident in New Hampshire on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was 40. Uryadov was serving as Head Coach of Canterbury School’s Boys’ Varsity Hockey program and also worked as the school’s Associate Director of Admission. His career was closely connected to hockey development and education, particularly his work with student-athletes. According to the information available, Uryadov was involved in a motorcycle crash in New Hampshire. Details about the exact location, circumstances of the accident and whether another vehicle was involved have not been independently confirmed. The reported cause of death was injuries sustained in the motorcycle accident. A Career in Hockey and Education Uryadov was a former Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Division I hockey player. During his collegiate career from 2005 through 2009, he appeared in more than 125 games and recorded 17 goals and 28 assists. He was also a four-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic honoree. Before attending RPI, Uryadov played at South Kent School, where he was a two-time team MVP and helped the program win the 2004 NEPSHA Championship. He later returned to South Kent and spent roughly a decade working in coaching and hockey leadership, helping develop young players and prepare student-athletes for collegiate competition. Uryadov joined Canterbury School in 2025 and eventually took over as head coach of the Boys’ Varsity Hockey program. His responsibilities also included working with prospective students and families through the admissions department.
